There are  two stages to felling a big tree: climbing with harness and ground work cutting. Both need expertise and skills from NPTC training . Cedar Difference tree surgeons have the necessary NPTC certificates for all stages of tree felling. Slideshows of both stage are below.

Climbing with harness
  • Using a harness, the tree surgeon climbs to the top of the tree to cut away the branches.
  • Guide ropes are then attached to the tree top. These anchor the tree to the ground and will ensure the tree will fall in the desired direction when it is cut at the base
Ground work cutting
  • Cuts are made to the tree trunk
  • Using ropes, the surgeon slowly guides the tree to the ground ensuring it falls in the safest direction
